
WAYNE SHUMATE
Over the last ten years, Wayne has become passionate about his own genealogy research and in helping family and friends with theirs. He has used his computer background and research & analytical skills to successfully solve many mysteries. Wayne is undaunted by computers and relentless in his quest to find the most perplexing puzzle pieces. In addition to helping family and friends, Wayne is currently volunteering with the Mecklenburg Genealogical Society, Charlotte, NC, helping with technology, applications, and operational projects. He has also volunteered with the Wilkes Genealogical Society, North Wilkesboro, NC, and has personally digitized 190 WGS Quarterly Bulletins and 50 Publications, totaling 10,200 pages.
Given his IT and systems experience, Wayne clearly understands the value of adhering to industry standards, and has joined the National Genealogical Society. By doing so, he can ensure work processes and deliverables comply with standards established by the professional associations.
Prior to his genealogy obsession, Wayne had 30+ years leading organizations to plan for, manage, and support technology projects and initiatives. With expertise in strategic planning, IT management, organizational design, and project management, Wayne has served as an IT & telecom director, and consulted on telecom planning and enterprise mobility. Wayne has experience as a High School administrator, teacher, and coach; and has worked as an engineer for an aerospace company. He received his M.B.A. from Queens University, M.A.T. from the University of North Carolina, and B.S. from N.C. State University. Wayne lives in Charlotte, NC.
