Immigration Passenger List (1903)
Here is the Immigration Passenger List for the S.S. Vancouver that sailed from Naples, Italy on August 10, 1903 and arrived in Boston, MA on August 25. Passengers included my Grandmother, Antonetta Sodano Coppola, her son, Nicola, and her brother, Francesco. Antonetta came to join her husband, Francesco Coppola (my Grandfather).
Immigration records are some of the greatest discoveries you can make. They tell when our ancestors came to the United States, what ship they sailed on, how long the voyage took, who they traveled with, how old they were, whether single or married, their occupation, how much money they had, and who they came to join in this country. We can shut our eyes and imagine why they left their home country, and what their dreams and fears might have been. We honor our ancestors in our quest to learn about them and pass along this knowledge to those who come after us.
